The original film to take this title is supposed to be quite the eccentric comedy, about an invisible government bureaucrat, but don't go expecting this to be a remake, even though, at the time of this film's release, we were used to the Coen brothers as comedic filmmakers. As with many a traditional noir, this film's focus on its protagonist is more prominent than it is in the usual drama, and that would be fine if the Coens didn't get carried away with under-developing certain plot layers and characters, some of which are conceptually significant, while still taking time to drag.
